NeuroSolutions CUDA - NVIDIA Graphics Card Compatibility

1. How can I find out which GPU is in my computer?
   
   Answer:
   For Windows XP:

   1. Click on the Start menu and choose Run (or via shortcut Windows Key + R)
   2. Type dxdiag and press OK. (You may also be prompted about allowing the DirectX Diagnostics to scan your system; Press Yes to continue)
   3. When the loading bar is complete click on the "Display 1" tab
   4. Look at the Device "Name" to determine if you own a NVIDIA GPU or another manufacturer.

   For Windows Vista/7:

   1. Click on the Start menu and type dxdiag and press OK. (You may also be prompted about allowing the DirectX Diagnostics to scan your system; Press Yes to continue)
   2. When the loading bar is complete click on the "Display 1" tab
   3. Look at the Device "Name" to determine if you own a NVIDIA GPU or another manufacturer.
   
   
2. Do I have a CUDA-enabled GPU in my computer?
   
   Answer: Check the list on the NVIDIA CUDA website to see if your GPU is on it. If it is, it means your computer has a modern GPU that can take advantage of CUDA-accelerated applications.
   
   
3. How do I know if I have the latest drivers?
   
   Answer: Visit http://www.nvidia.com/drivers
   
   
4. How can I get a CUDA-enabled GPU?
   
   Answer: For Tesla for HPC and supercomputing applications, go to: http://www.nvidia.com/object/tesla_wtb.html

   For GeForce for entertainment, go to: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_family.html

   For Quadro for professional visualization, go to: http://www.nvidia.com/object/workstation_wheretobuy.html

   
   
5. How can I tell if NeuroSolutions is ready to utilize my NVIDIA card?
   
   Answer: Open the "About NeuroSolutions" panel from the Help menu and at the bottom it should say either "Compatible with CUDA Add-on" or "Recommend version 1.3 of gpuapi.dll". If you get the second message then you will be able to run the simulations in single-precision mode. If you want to run the simulations in double-precision mode, then contact us to obtain an enhanced version of the DLL (at no charge). If you get the message "CUDA-enabled GPU not detected", then you may need to make sure you card is compatible and the latest driver is installed. Contact NeuroDimension support if you are still not able to get NeuroSolutions to detect your graphics card.
