Ernest Cuni is a full-time trader who works exclusively with the TradingSolutions End-of-Day software. Before becoming a full-time trader he was a Managing Consultant for a professional services and consulting company specializing in business processing outsourcing and software implementation projects. Mr. Cuni studied Management Science at M.I.T. where he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree. All of his trading knowledge and expertise was self-taught through research and the TradingSolutions software.
Mr. Cuni began using TradingSolutions in June '06. He actively traded the Solution Service and models from the Sample Performance section of www.tradingsolutions.com while learning how to create his own profitable models in TradingSolutions. In March '07 he began trading his own models and has earned a 31% annualized return in the past 6 months alone! Mr. Cuni wanted to emphasize four aspects of his model development process that he attributes to his success with TradingSolutions:
- Total Portfolio Management – trade with a portfolio of models to minimize risk and equity volatility, and spend as much time researching how to create a profitable portfolio as you do trying to create profitable models
- Do not over-optimize – models with exceptional back-tested results may be hyper-optimized to the movements of previous data, and not particularly robust for live trading
- Back test everything – if you haven’t back-tested it, don’t do it
- Mimic reality – always back-test model selection rules on out-of-sample data to make sure you’re back-testing portfolios you could have actually traded with no foresight
Mr. Cuni's portfolio consists of 10 single-input neural network models that are re-evaluated every quarter and swapped out with newer (or older) models if necessary. Mr. Cuni has found that the Jordan/Elman Network and Time-Lagged Recurrent Networks offer the best performance on the NASDAQ 100 which is at the basis of his modeling strategy. Mr. Cuni's models must maintain at least a 2.00 Sharpe Ratio and 50% annual gain along with the evaluation of other factors including the model’s Exit Efficiency, Correlation, the number of trades and custom indices he has formulated as a means of "performance measure" for the quality of the model. Since all of Mr. Cuni's neural network models are single-input, he has found that the optimized value of the input also plays an important role in the quality of the model.
Mr. Cuni said he enjoyed the "ability to experiment" and the flexibility of TradingSolutions as his top reasons for using the software. He found the models in the Solution Service and Sample Performance section to be a great asset in learning TradingSolutions and found it "easy to generate models to get up and going".
We would like to thank Mr. Cuni for sharing the details of his system and evaluation process, and we wish him continued success in using TradingSolutions to take advantage of today's volatile markets.
Testimonials disclosure: Unique experiences and past performances do not guarantee future results! Testimonials herein are unsolicited and are non-representative of all clients; certain accounts may have worse performance than that indicated. Trading spot currencies involves substantial risk and there is always the potential for loss. Your trading results may vary. Because the risk factor is high in the foreign exchange market trading, only genuine "risk" funds should be used in such trading. If you do not have the extra capital that you can afford to lose, you should not trade in the foreign exchange market. No "safe" trading system has ever been devised, and no one can guarantee profits or freedom from loss.
